L&D services identify people who have mental health, learning disability, substance misuse or other vulnerabilities when they first come into contact with the criminal justice system

“The Liaison and Diversion service is an evolving service that works with vulnerable individuals who have come into contact with the criminal justice system.

We support individuals by diverting them from further offending, empower them to challenge their existing behaviours and guide them into appropriate and effective support.

The service actively identifies vulnerabilities and presenting needs of individuals and from here develops a tailored support plan. We signpost individuals into a range of services that offer support for alcohol and other substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, and support around education, work and training.

The service work closely with key partners including West Yorkshire Police, Touchstone and the Bridge Project, we are commissioned and funded by the NHS and have been awarded ‘Best Liaison and Diversion Service’ in the country by the Howard League.
